As dawn started to break over the horizon, Kierra decided that it was the perfect day to school her very young horse, Maddie. As she loaded her mare into the trailer, she patted her lightly on the rump, slamming the ramp shut.

Kierra hopped in the trailer and headed off down the windy road towards the Eachann Equestrians College training arena. Upon arriving, Kierra's slim figure hopped out of the Chevy pick-up and walked towards the trailer. She let down the ramp, un-hooked the butt-bar, and wiggled her way towards Maddie's head. Kierra unlatched the trailer tie and replaced it with a lead. Easy girl, easy she said in a soothing voice as she backed Maddie down the ramp of her Featherlite trailer. Maddie was already tacked up, dressed to the nines in her fresh, white baby pad, fleece half pad, and Bates saddle. Kierra quickly switched the leather halter to a figure eight bridle and put on her gpa helmet. She brought the reins over her horse's head and walked into the arena.

The footing in the arena was fresh and slightly packed down. There was not a hoofprint in site. Breathing in deep the smell of sand footing and wood, Kierra threw the reins back over Maddies head and tightened her girth. Running down her irons, she mounted from the ground. Maddie put up a bit of a fuss, tossing her head and dancing around. Kierra just sat back and down in her saddle, settling the horse. Once Maddie took to the bit, Kierra relaxed her grip on the reins and calmly walked around the arena, letting Maddie check everything out.

After walking around the arena once, she asked her horse for a trot. Maddie tossed her head again picked up an up and down canter. Kierra scolded her with her voice and brought her to a walk, trying again for the transition. The second time, Maddie trotted off, tucking her head in. She flowed around the open arena, posting easily to Maddie's bouncy trot.
