 Lesson 1

"Since it's the first class, I'll start off with the easy stuff." Rebecca had been worrying about this all the time: sure she could talk to people and make them understand some things, but actually teaching a whole bunch of students?

"The anatomy of a horse is not suited or designed to carry a rider. In the wild, horses would only gallop and jump over obstacles if they were in danger." She was sure that these students weren't as quiet as they were acting. "That is why the popular events such as show jumping and cross-country are so demanding on the horse itself."

Rebecca was sure she was going to end up doing something embarrassing or possibly say something stupid... However she decided she'd take the attention off her and see who actually knew anything. "Who thinks they know where the most likely place of injury on a horse is?"

Kierra creeped into her seat in the back of the class, not liking having any extra attention on her. As Rebecca asked the question, she looked around to see any other raised hands. When she saw none, she timidly raised hers in the air.

A reassuring smile crept onto Rebecca's face, she was relieved that someone had decided to at least attempt an answer.

However, since the class was filled with new faces Rebecca had to briefly check the register to find out who was in and who this girl could possibly be. "Kierra is it? Well on you go, what do you think the most likely place a horse will be injuried?"

Rebecca scanned over the rest of the class who would probably end up lossening up after they had been in the class for a while. At the moment very little knew anyone.

Kierra flashed her toothy smile and nodded. Yes, it's Kierra. And is it the legs of a horse sustain the most injuries? she said, hopeful in her answer. She was being stared at and she didn't like that. Not at all. She kept her eye fixed on Rebecca, waiting for her answer.

Haydan looked over at Kiera the first of the brave to answer the question. He was sitting at the back of the class but didnt want to draw attention to himself so he sat quietly taking notes and listening to Rebecca's words.

Ankaa
`Cause I look in the mirror and all I see
Are your brown eyes looking back at me
They`re the only thing you ever gave to me at all

Ankaa sighed, sitting next to a window. She gazed out it, longing for the open air, to be away from the other students. But she only did this out of the corner of her eye. She would not risk being caught directly looking out. She knew that breaking the rules was unacceptable--That had been beaten into her head, literally, back in Israel. He expression hardened for a moment at the memory, and she actually began to pay direct attention to the lesson, so that it would distract her, hopefully.

As she waited for the teacher to reply with a yes or no, she leaned back in her chair, holding a small notebook, not larger than a few inches by a few inches, in one hand, down near her lap, and a pencil in the other hand. She was certain she'd know much of it, but was ready to jot down what she didn't know.

Haydan lifted his gaze as Ankaa sat down infront of him. He leaned on his hands as he listened to Rebecca. He still couldnt make sense of Ankaa, twidling his pen in his fingers he paid attention to the teacher trying to get answers from the class

At least some of the students looked interested... Rebecca didn't know if that was a good thing or not but at least the students were communicating.

"That's correct Kierra." She smiled warmly, and hoped that the rest of the class would be as involved.

"This because of the rigid spine and heavy body that a horse will possess and this means that the joints are under increasing strain when ever it gallops or jumps- even though cartilage is at the end of the bone to absorb most of the shock it is one of the main reasons why a horse will suffer from lameness." Rebecca looked around the class, maybe it was too soon for another question? Or she could just see if there were any students that had no idea about horses by picking them out and giving them their own set of questions to answer?

"Okay, now why does a horses height get measured from the withers instead of the highest part - the poll?" She gazed around the class, if she knew most of there names she would pick on someone...

Haydan looking about him raised his hand hoping to not get picked but he knew the answer so it didnt matter wether Rebecca chose him or not.

Chelsea creeped into the classroom and took one of the back row seats that were open and prepared to take notes. She intently stared at the teacher and tried to stay focused.

Otis was busy tending to his mechanical stallion, he got into the classroom late and flustered but settled down quickly, hoping that his tardiness would go unrecorded. Anyway, he thought to himself, wait till they see my Cobra engine!

Rebecca didn't miss the fact that two people had just come in but seeing as it would have been rather humilating to both of them, she decided to let it slip this time. Her attention turned back to Haydan who had decided to answer the question about why exactly a horse would be measured by the withers and not the poll.

"And what do you think then?" She nodded, indicating to the boy that he could voice his answer. Perhaps she was giving this class far too easy questions? Afterall most of them should have basic knowledge or else they wouldn't have came to an Equestrian school

[OOC: Sorry y'all for me being off XD I guess I've been kind of 'missing' classes too neh? ^^;;]

Haydan looked up and met Rebecca's gaze "Because the head is never level with the body or higher for long periods of time, so the easiest way to measure is from the poll as it never changes position" he said plaing with his pen

"Yes, right answer." Rebbecca smiled, she had asked some pretty basic questions and decided that she would ask a few more... challenging questions. Just to see if there were some genius's in the class.

She scanned over the class and asked the first question that came to her head, "Since we're talking about the horses basic anatomy, why don't we go a little bit further into detail?"

"The horses hoof has three main parts: the sole, wall and frog." Rebecca hoped she wasn't talking complete nonsense to anyone - anyway f anyone had any questions themselves she would gladly answer them to clear things up. "A well-shaped frog touches the ground as the horse moves, pushing a large, fatty pad so that the blood is pushed back up the horses leg."

"What is this fatty pad called?" She smiled hoping that someone could answer the question.

Knocking on the door, Nicole stepped into the classroom, her hazel eyes sweeping around the room. She saw the teacher at the head of the classroom, and just heard the teacher asking a question to the class. She noticed that most of the class seemed unsure, or perhaps they just didn't care. She smiled apologetically. "I'm guessing you're Rebecca? I'm sorry I'm late, but I only just arrived and had to register in the office. I'm sorry to have interrupted the lesson." She walked quickly to one of the seats in the middle row, and sat down, taking out a notebook already full of detailed notes. She quickly copied down what the teacher had written on the board.

Luckily she already knew most of it, and thought about the question which had been asked only moments earlier. She raised her hand, making sure that she looked interested and not half-asleep. She hoped that her answer was right, but if she wasn't, then at least she could console herself by saying that she was one of the only ones to try to answer the question.
